About One Mic
One Mic is an independent publication about bluegrass music, written around a single organising fact: the band works one microphone. Players step in to solo and step back to blend, so the balance an audience hears is made by walking rather than by a desk. Almost everything else about the music — the division of labour between five instruments, the way harmony is stacked, the size of the shared repertoire — follows from that arrangement or supports it.
Every entry says what an instrument or a convention is doing in the sound. It is not a manual. There is no tab here, no gear advice, no lessons and no rankings.
What this site is not
It is not a festival, a promoter, a venue, a shop or a school, and it is not affiliated with any event, organisation or business. Nothing here is a listing. If you are looking for dates, tickets or directions, this is the wrong site.
How it is organised
Six sections: The Mic, The Instruments, The Harmony, The Repertoire, The Circle and The Record. Each has its own landing page, and every piece is reachable from Browse or from the full index without going through a menu.
